Sweeney Todd Time
I’ve been remiss in sharing my thoughts on
Sweeney Todd. How can that be? I’m a Johnny Depp fanatic and Depp sings in Sweeney Todd! Let me just say that I’ve been enjoying Sweeney Todd and Depp’s singing since the day the movie came out.

In fact, I took two very attractive young men,
Black Dog, with me to the midnight premier showing of Sweeney Todd! You didn’t think I’d miss the midnight premier did you? No way! Oh I forgot to mention that I’ve seen it a couple times since the premier too.
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street is so much more than I expected. It’s a traditional Tim Burton film, dark, emotional, and quirky but it’s also a bit of a horror flick with buckets of gushing blood and a full-blown musical too. In fact the actors sing more than they speak.

And Johnny Depp can sing! In fact, the music is absolutely fabulous. All of the actors performed their own songs and are amazing. I loved it so much I bought the soundtrack and have been listening to it non stop ever since.
Johnny Depp and Sweeney Todd is a perfect match. He makes you feel empathy for a serial killer and sings longingly about his lost daughter while slitting throats. There’s a reason why he won the Golden Globe and has been nominated for an Oscar for this role.

But Johnny Depp isn’t the only perfect match in Sweeney Todd. Helena Bonham Carter and Mrs. Lovett is a perfect match too. Together they make the perfect couple to carry out Sweeney Todd’s vengeance and boost waning business to boot.

Sweeney Todd is fast becoming one of my favorite Johnny Depp movies of all time. If you haven’t seen it yet, you really must.
